On behalf of the Columbia Basin Trust and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), the City of Revelstoke wholly administers this program for area residents. A committee of community members and staff with outside administration help, conduct the annual process of applications, adjudications, awards, and reporting.
The Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs (CIP/AAP)—the Trust’s oldest programs—support projects identified as priorities within individual communities.
The Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Programs (CIP/AAP) are intended to be flexible and incorporate community-based funding decisions. The programs support local projects that provide additional value to Basin communities, and that benefit the broad community and public good. Program funds are distributed annually to the Trust’s local government partners: the regional districts of East Kootenay, Central Kootenay and Kootenay Boundary, the City of Revelstoke, Town of Golden, Village of Valemount, and to our Indigenous partners: Ɂaq’am, Ɂakisq’nuk, Lower Kootenay (Yaqan nuɁkiy), Tobacco Plains Indian Band (Ɂakink’umŧasnuqŧiɁit) and the Shuswap Indian Band
The funding available for the 2020/2021 projects in Revelstoke is $391,756.
The online application will be available on January 6, 2020 and the deadline to apply is February 28, 2020 at 4:30 pm.
Public Meeting is March 31, 2020 at 7:00 pm at the Revelstoke Community Centre.
The project proposal evaluation criteria include four components:
A. ‘Screening’ criteria which all projects must meet;
B. Key community-based environmental and social goals;
C. General project criteria including practical factors and economic impacts; and
D. Community support.
The screening criteria will be applied early in the proposal review process to avoid unnecessary consideration of projects that do not meet key aspects of this program. The remaining three categories – key community criteria, general project criteria and community support - will be assigned a point value for evaluation and ranking of proposals. A maximum of 100 points will be distributed as follows: 40 points to key community criteria, 45 points to general project criteria and 15 points to community support.
