City Hall is open to the public for Monday-Friday service with some safety restrictions in place.  COVID-19 procedures have been implemented following the guidelines from the Provincial Health Officer. Finance and Development Services have re-opened counter services with restricted hours to the public and facilitate appointments as needed while protecting staff and citizens - Visit their department pages for hours of operation and available services.  

Public Works Office Hours:  Available by phone: 250-837-2001 or email, Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm (excluding holidays). 

Starting June 1, 2020:

Public Drop-In Hours:  7:30am - 3:30pm (Lunch Closure: 12-1 pm)
-    1 visitor in office/15 minutes per person

Please respect all markers and signage at City facilities regarding physical distancing and best practices for reducing the spread of COVID-19.

Responsibilities of the Public Works Operations Department include:
  • Collecting garbage
  • Controlling traffic by maintaining traffic and pedestrian signals, installing and replacing signs, and marking lines
  • Cutting grass and danger trees to maintain city parks
  • Issuing street permits
  • Locating utility services
  • Maintaining memorial benches
  • Maintaining roadways, alleys, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
  • Maintaining street lighting
  • Managing snow and ice and removing snow from pathways
  • Providing water and water treatment plant services that include water conservation, new services, and water quality testing
  • Providing new sewer and sewer treatment plant services
  • Sweeping streets
