Youth Swimming Lessons
We have a variety of swim lessons for all ages, from 4 months to adults! Review this season's swim lesson options here.
- Swim lessons are subject to change based on demand and instructor availability.
- Children must be enrolled in the correct class for their ability. If your child is enrolled in a swim level that does not suit their ability, we reserve the right to withdraw them.If you are unsure of your child’s swim level, bring them in for a free swim assessment prior to registration. The assessment can be arranged during any public swim session.
- Our swimming lessons change seasonally according to demand.
Private Swimming Lessons
Private swim lessons are dependent on instructor availability. Please complete this private lesson form and email it to aquatic@revelstoke.ca to arrange your or your child's lesson.
Adult Swimming Lessons
- Level One: These lessons aim to help swimmers develop water confidence and learn basic swimming skills. Fitness drills and activities suitable to your swimming level will increase strength, endurance, and confidence to perform the skills unassisted.
- Level Two: These lessons help swimmers learn specific strokes and techniques.
- Level Three: This is for swimmers who already know how to do front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke; can tread water and swim 100 meters. This level teaches endurance, strokes, diving, eggbeater kicks and surface support.
Advanced Swimming Courses with the Lifesaving Society
- Bronze Star: This pre-Bronze Medallion training program helps prepare you for success in the Bronze Medallion. Participants develop problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, Water Smart confidence, basic lifesaving skills and resuscitation skills. Candidates must be able to swim 50 metres and tread water for 1 minute.
- Bronze Medallion: Candidates learn lifesaving techniques for challenging open-water rescues, develop stroke efficiency and endurance, and learn CPR-A/AED. Candidates must be 13+ years old OR have completed the Bronze Star program. This course costs $205 (which includes the Canadian Lifesaving Manual).
- Bronze Cross: Candidates learn advanced lifesaving training including the management of aquatic spinal injuries, prevention of loss of life in a variety of aquatic emergencies, and CPR-C/AED. Candidates must have completed the Bronze Medallion program. This course costs $185.
- National Lifeguard Program (NL): This is recognized as the standard measure of lifeguard performance in Canada, preparing candidates to prevent incidents and resolve emergencies. Candidates must have completed the Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid programs, and be 15+ years old. These eight sessions cost $600 (which includes the Alert Manual and Lifeguard Toolkit).
- NL Recertification: A Lifesaving Society NL certification is valid for two years from the date of certification and must be current for employment. Candidates must provide proof of a previous NL certificate. Recertification costs $130.
- Swim Instructor Course: This course trains candidates in Competency Level 1 knowledge, skills and attitudes, which are needed to teach the Society’s Swim for Life and Canadian Swim Patrol programs. Candidates must have completed the Bronze Cross program and be 15+ years old. This course costs $450.
Standard First Aid Courses
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C AED: Comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid, CPR and AED use. Through practical activities, candidates will learn to recognize and treat injuries including head and spinal, soft-tissue, facial, abdominal and chest, burns, bones and joints, and other common medical emergencies. This course is a Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 equivalent. This course costs $165.
- Standard First Aid Recertification: Candidates can recertify in Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED with this 8-hour course if previous certification is from: Any Canadian Lifesaving Society Branch, the Canadian Red Cross, St. Johns Ambulance, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or Canadian Ski Patrol. Candidates must provide proof of a previous Standard First Aid course. This course costs $90.
